Rhylee
"Rhylee. Rhylee wake up we're here!" Ryland shook me gently. "What? Where?" I asked drowsily. "We're back in California. Riker got a helicopter over." He told me. All of a sudden I felt a great release of energy. "Woah okay let's go see him!" I said. Ryland's face saddened. "We can't... Riker... Is... Dead." He said. My eyes widened. "No. No this can't be real! NO!" I screamed. "It's all my fault." I yelled. Ryland nodded. "It sure is." He said. I glared at him. "You're not meant to say that!" "What? It's true! You said so yourself!" "Are you trying to tell me I'm some kind of... Murderer?!" I asked. He nodded. "Yep. We're not going to the hospital. You're going to a correctional centre." He laughed evilly. "NO!" I yelled.
"NO!" I yelled and sat up, looking around. We were in the van. Ryland was next to me asleep. Ross was on the other side talking to himself in his sleep. "Mmmmfff Riker..." He groaned. Rocky was asleep in the next row of seats with E-Rat. Mum was driving at the speed limit. I wanted to talk to someone. Not Ryland. Not Delly. Someone who'd understand. Ratliff. I turned around so I was facing the backseats and tapped Ellington's shoulder. No luck. I poked his cheek. Still no luck. I undid my seatbelt and launched myself over, landing in his lap. That woke him up. "Woah! Hey Rhylee." He yawned and stretched, almost taking out Rocky. "I had a bad dream." I said. Ell pulled me close. "What was it?" He asked. "Well... Ryland woke me up because we were in California. Rik had got a helicopter over. I said I wanted to see him and Ryland's face got all sad. He was like: 'You can't go see him... He's dead' and I started screaming and blaming myself for it. Ryland told me it was my fault and that we were going to a correctional centre and dropping me off. That's when I woke up." I said. "Awe sweetie that scared you didn't it?" Ell hugged me. "Yeah." I admitted. "It's okay. After you fell asleep, Dell called your mum and said he was having surgery in Mexico, then being flown back to Cali." Ratliff smiled at me. "Do you know how bad he was hurt yet?" I asked. "No. Rydel wouldn't tell us." He told me. I sighed. "It must be bad." "Yeah." Ratliff tried to relax and go back to sleep. Someone's phone rang. "Rocky!" The rest of us groaned. He opened an eye and looked at the ID. "It's Rydel!" He exclaimed. "Answer it!" I yelled. "Hello? Hang on I'll put you on speakerphone." Rocky pushed a few buttons, and all of a sudden I could hear Delly. "Rydel!" I exclaimed. "Hey Boo. Hey guys." Rydel greeted us. "How bad is he?" Ryland asked. "Well, he has a broken nose, his appendix needed an out but he forgot, and he's really drowsy." Rydel filled us in. "What's an appendix?" I asked Ryland. "It's a part of your gut that really doesn't need to be there." He explained. "Exactly Ry. Anyway, he hasn't woken up yet and dad and I are trying to think of ways to help. Any ideas?" "Put me on speakerphone." I said. There were a few beeps. "Can you hear me now?" I asked. "Yep. Hey Ry!" Dad said. "Hey daddy! Can you put me near Riker please?" I asked. "Okay do whatever you're gonna do Ry." Rydel said.
Teardrops in your hazel eyes
I can't believe I made you cry
Feels so long
Since we went wrong
But you're still on my mind.
Never meant to break your heart
Sometimes things just fall apart
So here's one night
To make things right
Before we say goodbye
So wait up
Wait up
Give me one last chance
To make up
Make up
I just need one last dance
I stopped and waited. "Nothing. Not a finger twitch, not a single smile. Nothing." Rydel sighed. "Mum can we PLEASE go to the hospital?" I asked. "Where else?" Mum teased. We finally pulled up, and I ran inside. "RHYLEE! Come back!" Ross yelled. I stopped, waited a moment, and took off for reception. "Hi Rhylee Lynch I want my brother's room number RIGHT NOW." I demanded. "Rhylee calm down! Hi Stormie Lynch here for my son Riker Anthony Lynch born 8th of November 1991 here is my ID." Mum told the receptionist everything she needed to know. "Okay come with me." The receptionist lead us down a series of hallways and past a bunch of doors. She finally came to one at the end of the corridor. "We thought you might like some privacy." She explained. I barged in. Rydel was huddled with dad. "Delly?" I asked. "Oh Riles I'm so scared." She admitted, running over and swooping me into a hug. I hugged her back. "He's gonna be okay. I hope." I said. "Group hug?" Rocky asked. Everyone smiled and we hugged. "I'm not even a Lynch, and I still get in the family hug." Ellington laughed. "Very funny Ell. I'm hungry, but I don't wanna leave him." I said. "Oh baby that was quick. I'll go." Mum headed off. Rocky and I huddled together. "D'you reckon Riker would mind if I crept in with him?" I asked Rocky. He shrugged. "Don't see why not. Try not to squirm." He warned me. Ryland helped me up, and I got under the covers next to Riker. "Awe!" Rydel took a picture of me and Rik snuggled close. "Okay guys find somewhere to camp it could be a while." Dad shook his head. Rocky and Ross vacated a couch. Ryland put some cushions on the floor and found some extra blankets in a cupboard. Ratliff... He found a snuggle robe thingy and is currently very comfortable in it. Mum ran in with food and sleeping bags. "Anyone want a sleeping bag?" She asked. Ryland got up and took a random one. "Much better." He sighed after putting it down and getting in. I huddled close to Riker and kind of... Drifted off... Y'know, like any self-respecting 7 year old would do...
