Celebrating (I think!) four years of blogging... Image: cygnus921
Somewhere in the aftermath of the slipstream that took me from February into March without realising it, it has suddenly dawned on me that this blog has just passed the 4-years-of-age mark.
Wow.
Wallowing queasily in an aura of blogging nostalgia, I took a glance through some of my oldest archives and found myself re-reading my first ever blog post, from February 23, 2007.
It didn't read as badly as I thought it would, given my recollections of starting that first post were somewhat along the lines of turning up to a blind date when I thought I was supposed to be attending a job interview. In fact, it took me quite some time to "commit" to this blog thing, and there was more than a year in there somewhere when I didn't blog anything at all (does that mean I should only claim three years in the blogosphere?). Now that the blog gets 500-1000 visits per day (there must be some pretty bloody bored people out there, that's all I can say!), it's rather staggering to think about how it has grown.
This is interesting to me personally, as I seriously ponder an exit from things ELT to try something new. Not sure when or whether that will happen, but I do have a different blog project on the agenda, and this has been a fun opportunity to compare "first posts" to see how I might start the new one.
Do you recall (and can you find) your first ever blog post? Hopefully you managed it with a little more poise and foresight than I did.
Share your first ever blog posts -- I'd love to read 'em!
