Just a quick post here to say a heart-felt thank you to Dugie Cameron, president of Pearson Asia Pacific, for his quick and decisive action in dealing with a contentious issue I had with the company. In a matter of days, he has not only rectified a few quite serious problems, but also gone a very long way towards restoring my faith in a company I wrote twenty coursebooks with. He is an exceptionally busy person, and his direct action in this matter is appreciated. Most importantly, the correspondence has shown me that there is a good chance that a sequence of events like the one I experienced can be avoided in future -- for both myself and potentially other ELT writers as well.
The post from two days ago dealing with that issue has now been removed. My apologies to the people who posted comments there (your thoughts and support are appreciated!), but it wasn't really my intention to spark wider debate or turn one person's misfortune into a catalyst for analysing ELT publishers in general. In hindsight, I probably should have disallowed comments and left it as the open letter calling for particular action it was. Blog visitors might disagree with me on that and other counts, but I hope that, given the issue has been dealt with, people will understand the post has no further value and -- found randomly on the Internet without the follow up context -- could in fact be a harmful misrepresentation of how things have turned out.
I also removed the post because, basically, there was no request (direct nor implied) for me to do so.
Right then... On with things.
Thanks again,
- Jason
