Teetering on the edge of the end of term (the class I have tomorrow afternoon will be my last for the year), I was farewelling a class today, and thanking them for lots of positive feedback, when I got a thank you from a student that almost threw me...
"Thanks..." said the lady, pausing to fumble for the right words, "for helping us... get to know each other really well. For helping us become good friends."
The students behind her nodded eagerly in agreement.
I can honestly say I've never felt so chuffed before at the end of a term with a class. And that observation, as positive feedback for a teacher, was something of a first for me.
A most welcome curveball!
