I mentioned in yesterday's post that I was starting to teach very basic reading skills to a group of beginner level adult learners, and that I was using -- amongst other things -- words from the Dolch word lists.
As I prepare more of these materials to use in this afternoon's class, I thought I might as well share them publicly here on the blog for other teachers out there looking for similar resources and ideas for entry level reading skills.
1. Printable word lists
Set 1 (Pre-Primer Words) | Set 2a (Primer Words) | Set 2b (Primer Words)
Set 3 (Grade 1 Words) | Set 4a (Grade 2) | Set 4b (Grade 2) | Set 5 (Grade 3)
Set 6a (Nouns A) | Set 6b (Nouns B) | Set 6c (Nouns C)
2. Sight-word Recognition and Reading Practice Cards
TG Version Level A-B | TG Version Level C
3. Dolch Word Reader Story
There's a bit of an overview on what the Dolch word lists are, and how I use some of these resources in classrooms, on the main English Raven site page here.
I initially made these for teaching young children, but the formatting of the word lists and reading practice cards is perfectly okay for using with adults, too!
Have a great day's teaching, wherever and however you are!
