English Raven and the Dude(ney) get together in Lygon St, Melbourne, yesterday for a "tweet up" and a little abiding over some red wine.
Living near Melbourne after 10 years in the EFL world in Asia, there are relatively few chances to catch up (in person) with ELT professionals based in the Northern Hemisphere.
So when I heard Gavin Dudeney was going to be in town this week, as part of the whirlwind Digital Literacies tour going around Australia at the moment, I jumped at the chance to meet the gentleman in person and take him out to one of Melbourne's great dining strips.
We had a great chat, with a lot of laughs. He's a super professional in our field, and just a downright nice bloke.
'Nuff said, I reckon!
Thanks for swinging by our way, Gavin, and it was a genuine pleasure (I wanted to add "privilege", but I think Gavin might object to that - being the incredibly egalitarian and down to earth person he is) to meet you and get a chance for a casual chinwag.
Hope the last leg of the tour (on to Perth after Melbourne, having already done Gold Coast and Sydney) goes well, and that very looooooong trip home to Europe doesn't prove too exhausting.
(And please don't make it 13 years between visits Down Under next time, okay?)
:-)
