Found this gathering twigs at the back of the Raven's Nest and thought I ought to drag it out and make it available to teachers out there looking for materials and ideas for ongoing (and robust) vocabulary building for their students.
The material/approach is called "Word Wise" and I used to use it in printed workbook format for large numbers of students in various schools I managed (and taught) a couple of years ago.
The screencast below demonstrates some aspects of the materials and how you might like to use them.
And here are the downloadable versions if you're interested in trying them out!

This is actually the "full throttle" approach I used with adults and generally learners from high elementary levels and up. I also have some simpler versions for lower level and/or younger classes, where we may not want to throw the full approach at them right away, and work them up through a series of layers.
As I mentioned in the screencast, I'm also working on a couple of different online models for applying this approach - ones that don't require printing and photocopying!
Enjoy!
