I recently stumbled upon this interesting site, called JacketFlap.com. It appears to be a place where you can not only find wonderful new books for children (they mention a database of over 900,000!), but also actually directly connect with authors, teachers, illustrators, publishers, editors - even librarians and parents!
Most of the members appear to be listed as writers, so it could well be a place where people are coming to try and get noticed and published - not sure... There are a lot of writers' blogs on the site, which made for an interesting read (as you go inside the actual life of some writers and read about the process of writing).
Checking the "About" page, I noticed they claim to be the world's largest database of information on children's book publishers. It does appear to be a great place to network with all sorts of people involved in the children's publishing industry, so it's worth checking out.
I signed up and found it easy to get a profile started, so I'll continue to explore and see how the networking side of things goes!
:-)
