Probably one of THE most practical/applied literacy tasks for late teen students irrespective of which course they happen to be doing: the resume.
Here's how we approach it at GTEC for Intermediate level VCAL Literacy (this is the unit walk through for students):
We have some follow up/integrated activities for Oral Communication as well, addressing interview skills.
